Iran-US Military Escalation Continues Into Ninth Day, Raising Regional Security Concerns

Iran and the United States exchanged strikes for the ninth consecutive day, as tensions over the strategic Strait of Hormuz continued to escalate. US strikes targeted the town of Khormoj in southwestern Iran, while Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain reported fresh Iranian attacks as US-Iran hostilities spilled into neighbouring countries.

Iran’s semi-official news agency, citing a local official, reported that the US strike triggered power outages across parts of Khormoj, the administrative centre of Dashti County in Bushehr province. According to the report, the targeted area contains military facilities associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) naval forces. The kinetic action resulted in immediate disruptions to the electricity grid within parts of Khormoj.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s state broadcaster said in a social media post that the country’s air defence systems intercepted three missiles launched from Iran toward Jordanian territory. A fourth missile landed in a remote area of southern Jordan without causing casualties or material damage. According to media reports, the missiles were intended to target US military aircraft stationed in the southern Jordanian coastal city of Aqaba.
