Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman flagged off the WAP7 electric locomotive, a high-powered engine manufactured by Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) in Varanasi . The Finance Minister also inaugurated the Observer Rest House and Amrit Kanan Community Park at the Banaras Rail Engine Factory. Ms Sitharaman appreciated the dedication of the officers and employees of Banaras Locomotive Works. The newly launched WAP7 locomotive is a high-speed, 6000-horsepower electric locomotive specially designed to pull all types of passenger, mail, and express trains.
