India is funding the construction of a hospital in Nepal’s remote Humla district under a grant assistance of NPR 148 million.
The foundation stone for the construction of the Nepal-Bharat Maitri Hospital building in Chankheli Rural Municipality-2 of Humla district in Karnali province was laid on Thursday, according to a press release by Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.
The hospital building is being built with the government of India’s financial assistance of Nepali Rupees 148 million approximately, it said.
“The hospital will come up in Chankheli Rural Municipality and will be implemented as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) through the local municipality,” the press release added.
The chairman of Chankheli Rural Municipality and other stakeholders appreciated India’s development support and expressed confidence that the new facility would improve access to healthcare services in the area.
India’s Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava, in a video message, reiterated New Delhi’s commitment to working closely with the people and government of Nepal to achieve shared growth and prosperity. The project is the third HICDP undertaken by India in the Humla district.
