NITI Aayog started ‘Brain Health Initiative’ at district and block level, pilot program in 12 districts

Taking an important step towards empowering human resources under the development plans of independent India, Niti Aayog has launched the ADP/ABP Brain Health Initiative. Niti Aayog has given this information through its official ‘X’ handle.

The initiative was formally launched at Niti Aayog on Wednesday and will first be implemented on a pilot basis in 12 aspirational districts of the country. The programme will be overseen by the National Task Force on Brain Health.

Dr. VK Paul inaugurated this innovative initiative

Inaugurating this innovative initiative, Dr VK Paul, Member, NITI Aayog said that this programme is the ‘injection point’ of the beginning of something important. He said that in line with the vision of a developed India, building a strong health infrastructure is the key to fully utilising India’s manpower. He also said that while earlier health schemes were more focused on infectious diseases, now special attention is being given to prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and this necessary change will be made possible by the ADP/ABP Brain Health Initiative.

There is a need for a strong medical system in the country

In his special address, NITI Aayog CEO BVR Subrahmanyam mentioned various special initiatives implemented under the commission. He said that the need for a strong medical system is imperative to ensure a good quality of life of the countrymen.

One in every three people in the world is affected by brain-related diseases

Dr. Rajinder K. Dhamija, Director of ISBAS and Chairman of the National Task Force on Brain Health, said that one in three people in the world is affected by brain-related diseases. This figure highlights the urgent need for this initiative.

Rohit Kumar, Additional Secretary and Mission Director, ADP/ABP, NITI Aayog, gave a detailed overview of this initiative in his speech. He explained how efforts will be made to strengthen brain health through awareness, prevention and integrated action by involving aspirational districts in this initiative. Through this initiative, a concrete step has been taken towards setting a new example in the field of brain health.
