The 97th Academy Awards 2025: Indian film producer Guneet Monga made a power move on the red carpet in a stunning Oscar-worthy ensemble.
The 2023 Academy Award winning producer, whose short film Anuja has earned a nomination in the Best Short Film (Live Action) category at the 2025 Oscars, graced the red carpet in a custom Manish Malhotra ensemble and Manish Malhotra High Jewellery.
Celebrating the Indian saree drape, Guneet’s red carpet look featured a beautiful amalgamation of tradition meets modern style. Though filmmaker Karan Johar revealed what Guneet would be wearing at the iconic Oscars 2025 in a fun video shared on Instagram, celebrity fashion stylist Manisha Melwani takes News18 through the making of the power-saree look.
“We wanted to celebrate the saree on the international red carpet once again. However, this time, for the Oscars we styled Guneet in a rather sharper look in comparison to the traditional pink Benarasi sari featuring elephant motifs that she draped at the 2023 Oscars,” shares celebrity fashion stylist, Manisha Melwani.
Speaking about the ensemble Guneet wore at the 97th Academy Awards 2025 red carpet, Manisha further adds, “Designed by Manish Malhotra, Guneet’s ensemble featured a corset, saree drape and trench coat. The ensemble embraced the beautiful textile of handwoven tissue. A true amalgamation of tradition and modern allure, the ensemble was envisioned in an enticing chocolate brown palette. Guneet paired the monochromatic ensemble with Manish Malhotra High Jewellery.”
Guneet paired the timeless ensemble with a custom made box clutch designed by Manisha Melwani and custom footwear. Guneet’s Manish Malhotra High Jewellery pieces featured uncut polki earrings that complemented the matching buttons of the trench coat.
The short film Anuja has also been backed by big names in the film industry including Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Mindy Kaling. Directed by Adam J Graves, the film stars Sajda Pathan and Ananya Shanbhag.
The 97th Academy Awards red carpet kicked off on a high fashion note with celebrities gracing the red carpet in stunning gowns.
