Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday reviewed the security situation of the country and the operational preparedness of the armed forces in detail at the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) held in Kolkata, West Bengal. During this, he was briefed about the new situation after “Operation Sindoor” and the emerging technologies and changing warfare methods in future wars. The Prime Minister also reviewed the reforms made in the last two years and the plans for the future.
The Prime Minister lauded the Armed Forces for the success of Operation Sindoor and praised their role in nation building, anti-piracy operations, evacuation of Indian citizens from conflict areas and disaster relief and humanitarian assistance (HADR) to friendly countries. Declaring 2025 as the ‘Year of Reforms’ in the Defence Sector, he directed the Ministry of Defence to strengthen jointness, enhance self-reliance and accelerate innovation.
In this conference, the Defense Minister will address on September 16 and the Chief of Defense will address on September 17. Let us tell you that this meeting is held once every two years and it is considered the biggest platform for dialogue between the top political leadership and military commanders. This time the theme has been kept as ‘Year of Reforms – Change for the Future’, which reflects the ongoing efforts towards modernization and transformation of the armed forces.
Structural, administrative and operational issues will be discussed in the conference for the next two days. The preparedness of the army will be assessed amid global uncertainties and further strategy will be decided in accordance with the vision of the Prime Minister. During the conference, the focus will be on reform, change, modern technology and preparations for multi-domain warfare. As per tradition, this time too there will be dialogue sessions with officers and soldiers of different ranks in the conference so that experiences and suggestions from the ground level can also become a part of the high level policy-making process.
