In Punjab, as the rainfall is subsiding in upper hilly regions as well as in Punjab, the state has witnessed relief from further inflow of water in its rivers that leads to floods.
According to official reports, there has been no major increase in the affected population during the past 24 hours though many areas of farmland across the state remain submerged.
As of now, 1948 villages across 22 districts have been impacted that has affected 3.84 lakh people.
Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister, Hardeep Singh Mundian has informed that as many as 21,929 people have been evacuated from marooned areas across Punjab.
Maximum from Gurdaspur followed by Ferozepur, Fazilka and Amritsar besides other districts.
Thousands of acres of land comprising crops have been inundated. Two inter- ministerial central teams have started assessing the damage done to the state. Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) Chairman, Manoj Tripathi has assured that there is no danger of extra water outflow from the Bhakra Dam, so there is no need to worry anymore.
Meanwhile, relief and rescue operations are going on large scale. District administrations are also instructing people not to fall or spread rumours rather call given helpline numbers to inform or clarify the facts.
