Saif Ali Khan Stabbing: Fingerprint Report Awaited, Cops Say They Have Ample Evidence Against Accused

Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: The Mumbai Police on Tuesday claimed that they have strong evidence against the arrested accused in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case, adding that a facial recognition test would be conducted to match his identity with the CCTV footage.

Amid reports suggesting that the fingerprints found at the actor’s home did not match those of the arrested accused, Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, police clarified that the fingerprint analysis is still ongoing and no such conclusions have been reached yet.

“Regarding fingerprints, let me clear the confusion. No fingerprint report has come yet. But I will say this much, the accused who has been arrested, we have ample evidence against him,” Additional CP Paramjit Singh Dahiya said.

‘Came From Bangladesh, Stayed In Kolkata’

The Mumbai Police confirmed that the accused entered India from Bangladesh and stayed at various locations in Kolkata for several days. On Monday, the cops conducted a search operation in West Bengal’s Nadia district and arrested a woman in connection with the case.“We have strong evidence to prove that the accused hails from Bangladesh and stayed in Kolkata before entering Mumbai. The face recognition test is underway to match his identity with the CCTV footage,” said the cop.

Earlier, the father of the Bangladeshi man accused of stabbing the actor said that he would soon approach that country’s foreign ministry and the Indian High Commission for his son’s release, claiming he was being framed for reasons unknown to him.

However, the Mumbai Police refused to respond to the claims made by his father, saying “Whatever he (the father of the accused) has said, we cannot speak on this.”

In the early hours of January 16, Khan was stabbed six times at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. The actor was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital where he underwent spinal and plastic surgery for his wounds. He was released from the hospital on January 21.
