White House Correspondents’ dinner shooting suspect charged with attempt to assassinate US President

In the United States, the suspect in the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting in Washington, Cole Tomas Allen, has been charged with attempting to assassinate US President Donald Trump.

Allen was arraigned in a US District Court yesterday on several charges, including transportation of a firearm and ammunition in interstate commerce with intent to commit a felony, and discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.

The US Department of Justice said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that Cole Allen now faces the full weight of federal justice.

The case is currently being investigated by the FBI Washington Field Office and the United States Secret Service. It is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorneys Jocelyn Ballentine, Charles Jones, and Adam Barry.
