N Korea launches massive tirade against Quad s calls for denuclearisation of Korean Peninsula

Issuing a strong condemnation of the Quad’s calls for the total denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, North Korea slammed the statement, terming it a “provocation” that infringes on its sovereignty

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK   North Korea’s full name) condemned the “unilateral coercive act” of the informal alliance, comprising the United States, Japan, India, and Australia, its comments to the country’s official media outlet

As per the KCNA report, officials of the DPRK accused the Quad of trying to counter China’s growing influence in the Indo-Pacific region, and of “recklessly interfering in the internal affairs of a sovereign state,” warning that “such acts will inevitably bring about grave consequences,” quoting the foreign ministry.

“We will never tolerate the attempt of the U.S. and its vassal forces to unilaterally change the position of the DPRK and the current situation on the Korean Peninsula,” the report cited a press statement issued by the DPRK Foreign Ministry a day earlier.

“Nothing can change the position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state … The U.S. attempt to deny the present position of the DPRK is not only the gravest violation of sovereignty but also a dangerous act of escalating tension which creates instability in the region and escalates the tension,” the statement said.

The Foreign Ministry said that the DPRK’s status as a nuclear state was “fixed and irreversible”, warning that it will take “self-defensive counter-measures” if provoked through reckless military aggression, in a strongly worded tirade.

The massive rant by the DPRK’s Foreign Ministry comes after a meeting of the Quad Foreign Ministers was held in Washington on July 2, with all four ministers condemning North Korea’s nuclear program, and reaffirmed their joint commitment to the complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula
